Mundi society is based upon its labor guilds, which likewise determine an individual's social status. The guilds are the bases of power in the industries, while the city-states control the government. The respect for the guilds in revered as a neutral power, and being part of a guild means that you are one of the best in your field. People do not anger the guilds for fear that the guild will stop providing their services to their city-state. Many guilds are positioned in city-states, though the Guild of Magic is positioned on the island in the middle of the bay. All guilds are impartial, but city-states are often given to tensions between them, often resulting in a few battles or border scuffles between them. Many people are very proud of the city-state they are from, and given to irritation at the other city-states.
