Overview of Doegum

A world with no moon and one red ring surrounding it. Doegum's orbit passes very close to its sister planet every 18 years. The planet of Doegum makes one full rotation in two earth months. Thus, any one spot receives one month of light and one of relative darkness. The thick atmosphere of Doegum emits a glow during the night, in a process that is still not understood. Doegum travels a full orbit around its sun in the equivalent of an Earth year.

Doegum has three distinct inhabited regions: Air, Land and Water. In each of these regions, respectively, live the sentient species of Doegum: the Avians, Terrans, and Hydrans.

Because of the types of light used in photosynthesis, the grass and plants of Doegum are purple. Thus, the land massess appear to be predominately purple when viewed from space:
