Creation: A great race of fire creatures, the ha-jin, created the terrans. Soon after, the terrans went up on a high mountain and tried to steal fire from the the ha-jin. As punishment, the ha-jin made other beings, the avians and hydrans, to have power over the terrans and make their lives more difficult. The Ha-jin, disgusted with the behavior of their creations, left the lands of Doegum to go live in The Ring. Someday, they will return to judge the terrans.

Death: As further punishment for the attempted theft of fire, the ha-jin also took away the terrans' afterlife. Terrans believe that now, when they die, they are simply erased.

Purpose: To regain the forgiveness of the ha-jin. There is no agreed-upon way to achieve this redemption.

Holy text: Some important texts are spread out over ruins from ancient times; one very important library houses books on much of terran history and legends. Most treat them as religious canon.

Religious holidays: End of the darkening, coming of light celebration - six times a year: big week-long carnival. In addition, 1st waking of the darkening is a period of rest.

Terrans have a very strong cultural tradition that enforces attendance at frequent church services, because it is believed this is one way to win back favor with the Ha-jin. A terran who skips church will be made to feel quite guilty and ashamed.
